On the Real Estate Front...
I feel like I've been around real estate in some form all my
life. My father did various kinds of construction, including
designing and building our own house. I spent most of my
childhood playing near the job-sites or helping with
sheet-rocking, painting, landscaping, you name it. I knew
early on in my life that I would someday be involved in real estate. It was a fascinating process for me to watch our house
transform from a dirt lot into a home.
However, during school I got excited about accounting (I know, kind of unusual) so I pursued a degree and career in
that field. After working in corporate tax for several
years, I found myself driving around on my lunch breaks looking at houses and doing mortgage calculations on hypothetical properties. After years of knowing my heart wasn't in it, I moved into the field that I am so passionate about… real estate! It was the best decision of my life.
To start with, I began investing in real estate - buying,
selling, remodeling and renting investment properties. You
can see my investment properties page for
some fun "before" and "after" pictures. Through the course
of investing, I worked with many real estate agents and
sadly was disappointed by their overall level of service and
expertise. I would often have to explain contracts and inspection issues to them.
Through my own investing activities over the years, I had
become very knowledgeable in real estate. I realized that I
love to teach and work with people, so becoming a real estate agent seemed like a natural transition. It has been
a great choice! It's been a decade since making the
transition and I am very happy!
On the Personal Front...
In my free time I love to be outdoors - doesn't everyone in Seattle say that?!?
My sweet dog Nova loves walks so
we get outside as often as possible. Our favorite places
within Seattle are Greenlake, Discovery Park, Lincoln Park
and the Arboretum. I also love mountain and rock climbing,
hiking and backpacking. I've climbed Mt Rainier, Mt
Adams and Mt Shuksan and backpacked all over the Pacific
Northwest.
I volunteer with youth programs throughout the city,
especially with girls. I love the outdoor-related programs
like those through
The
Mountaineers and
Girls
Rock and
Girls on
the Run.
I have also been a volunteer mentor at Seattle Girls School,
an independent middle school for girls.
Thank you for taking the time to get to know me! I look
forward to knowing you! |
